Last week, on July 24th, the Committee for Hispanic Children & Families (CHCF) accepted the honor of Northeast Regional Affiliate of the Year at the UnidosUS Annual Conference.
UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía took to the stage last Monday alongside many Hispanic luminaries and national leaders to present this prestigious award to CHCF President & CEO Ramon Peguero.

This honor comes on the heels of Ramon Peguero’s election to the UnidosUS Affiliate Council.
“I truly believe that our organization’s affiliation with UnidosUS has allowed us to grow both programmatically and in our sector,” Peguero wrote in his statement of interest as a candidate for the position. “The collegial relationships that I have been able to form would not have been possible without said affiliation.”
This year, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered opening remarks at the Chicago conference, praising the affiliates and their leadership.
“The power of Unidos is the power of the coalition, recognizing that diversity in our nation is not a weakness or an afterthought, but instead our greatest strength,” Vice President Harris said during the conference. “The founders of the organization had a mission to empower Latinos economically, politically, and socially, and to do so by uniting communities and seeking common ground.”
