The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families (CHCF) today released the following statement congratulating Maria Torres-Springer on her appointment to New Head of Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
New York, NY. – “The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families (CHCF) congratulates Maria Torres-Springer on her appointment to the New Head of Economic Development Corporation.” Commissioner Torres-Springer has extensive knowledge and experience. As the former Commissioner of the city’s Department of Small Business Services, Commissioner Torres-Springer led a successful track record in increasing job growth through her development of workforce programs. Her contributions to community revitalization projects, building science campuses through Applied Sciences NYC Initiative, her dedication in the Women Entrepreneur NYC (WE NYC) advisory council on expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs, and her many other initiatives bring a fresh new voice to the EDC.
CHCF is confident that Mayor De Blasio’s selection of Maria Torres-Springer serves the interest of New Yorkers. The Mayor’s continued efforts to broaden services to all people is especially highlighted by his choice to lead the EDC.
We are delighted at the appointment of the first woman to head the EDC, with her focus and vision, she will increase services and expand initiatives with her policy of “inclusive growth” and “inclusive innovation” which advances economic equality for all New Yorkers.
